Poke Hard 3

Poke Hard With A Vengeance

I saw my doctor the other day. I’ve been meaning to go for a while now, but never got round to it. Also, when checking the clinic, he’d vanished from their website. On Google he was still there. Or so I thought. He’d moved about 400m up the road, and I was only looking at the street name, not the number or clinic name. Anyway, I finally went to have a thorough health check as it’s been forever long and the first thing he says is drop your pants and lie down over there. Gulp. He had to stick his finger up there again. Thankfully it got the all clear, but he wasn’t done yet. I had to go for a blood test, too.

A week later I receive great results, although the LDL cholesterol was a wee bit high, nothing too serious overall. That was a relief. And my blood pressure was normal, too.  I’ll also have to go in for a colonoscopy some day in the future. Queensland Health have sent through a questionnaire already, and I completed it pretty quick. The day will soon come where I have to drink the Picoprep mix to clear my insides. I had it once before and it was pleasantly lemon, not the worst thing I’ve put in my mouth. I think people don’t like it because it’s so much to drink in so little time, it gets boring quickly. It’ll help flush out a kilo or two, perhaps, assisting with my current weight-loss journey.

Back in mid-September one night the scales read 95.2kg. I looked in the mirror and saw my expanding gut. I had to stop the chippies and chocolates as they were getting the better of me. Eight weeks later and I’m down 6 to 7kg. It keeps fluctuating for a week before settling, and for the past week had been between mid 88 to mid 89. It was in the 88s again this afternoon. I hope to soon see 87 on the scales, even if it ends in a .9. All I’ve done different is skip the chippies and chocolate, lollies, occasional fast food and sweets (we don’t eat take away much, but we’ll always have a frappe, croissant or piece of cake when we went to Brisbane city). Now my diet each day is 2 pieces low GI bread/toast, 2-3 protein bars, Pepsi Max and water (not together). Misa-chan will cook the usual dinner with meat, soup and veg on my nights off, but I’ll have half and save the other half for the next day.

While I don’t feel any extra energy, I do feel lighter, full from less, and full for longer. My knees don’t hurt after walking, but after a 12km day in Brisbane my feet sure do.
